Jaume Guardiola Will Be The President Of ESADE Board Of Trustees

Jaume Guardiola , the former CEO of Banc Sabadell , will be appointed the new chairman of the ESADE Foundation Board of Trustees on July 12, once the term of the current chairman, Xavier Torra , ends as planned .

Under the presidency of Xavier Torra, Esade has consolidated its prestige throughout the world and its ability to attract international talent, with 126 nationalities at its Barcelona, ​​San Cugat and Madrid campuses and exchange and collaboration agreements with 198 international academic institutions.

Torra highlighted the effort made to increase the scholarships that the institution grants to talented young people who need financial resources, especially in the current crisis scenario caused by the pandemic:

“We have been able to respond with maximum flexibility and adaptability to the different challenges that have been presented, through the hybridization of our training and the application of different own methodologies. In the same way that our commitment to talent, reducing inequality and guaranteeing socioeconomic diversity in the classroom by offering access without economic barriers to quality training has been one of our priorities ”.

The appointment of Jaume Guardiola takes place at a time when Esade continues to strengthen its commitment to educational innovation,with the launch of new degrees and the incorporation of technological competences, in a transversal way, in all programs. Guardiola assures that, at Esade, we will continue “working to offer the best educational experience, leveraged in technology, sustainability, diverse talent, internationalization and connection with the company.

To do this, we update our academic methodology to the new business and social challenges, being fundamental is our commitment to include technological skills and new socio-emotional skills that the labor market will demand in the learning of our students and which are key to achieving a positive impact on society ”.

Until last March, Guardiola was CEO of Banc Sabadell, a position he held since 2007. Previously, his career was linked to the BBVA group where he was CEO of BBVA Puerto Rico, BBVA Banco Francés in Argentina, BBVA Bancomer in Mexico and CEO from Spain and Portugal. He is a trustee of the Esade Foundation, a member of the Governing Council of the APD, a member of the Board of Directors of the Cercle d’Economia and a member of the Consultative Council of Foment.
