KT Wiz and NC Dinos will go ‘all out’ in Game 5 of the playoffs.
KT won the fourth game of the 2023 KBO Playoffs (best-of-five) against NC 11-2 at NC Park in Changwon on April 3.
After two consecutive losses, KT won two straight games in enemy territory and dragged the playoffs to the final five games.
Game 5 of the playoffs will be held at KT Wiz Park in Suwon on May 5 at 2 p.m. KST.
KT’s “magic” came in Game 3.
In Game 3, KT starter Ko Young-pyo pitched six innings of three-hit ball, striking out five and walking none. Choi Jae-dae and Moon Sang-chul helped turn the tide of the series with their home run blasts.
In Game 4, the team showed its intensity from the start. The KT bats scored eight runs on seven hits and four walks in the fourth inning to take control of the game. Starter William Cuevas, who struggled in Game 1, pitched six innings of one-hit ball and laid the foundation for the victory.
The tide of the series has now turned in KT’s favor.
Most positively, the lethargic batting lineup has come alive. Jae-dae Choi (.462 batting average, two home runs) has been hot, while veteran hitters Hwang Jae-gyun, Jang Sung-woo, and Anthony Alford have found their groove.
Wes Benjamin will likely start Game 5 for KT.
Benjamin struggled in Game 2 of the playoffs, but he is second in wins this year with 15. Like Cuevas, he is more than capable of delivering a quality start if he is held to zero runs.
KT manager Lee Kang-cheol is struggling to decide on a starter for Game 5. “I will decide after seeing the physical condition of the pitchers. Sunday’s game may be postponed (because of the rain forecast),” Lee said.
Meanwhile, NC’s mood has sunk significantly after a shocking two-game sweep at home.
NC’s chances of making it to the Korean Series seemed high when they went on a winning streak through the wildcard decider against Doosan Bears, the semifinals against SSG Landers, and the first and second rounds of the playoffs. 토토사이트
But then the momentum took a turn for the worse.
The NC bats had shown their ability to hit for power in “fall baseball” this year. However, after being held scoreless in Game 3 of the playoffs, they were held to two runs in Game 4.
