Fifth-year Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) regular Lee Seung-yeon is tied for the lead on the first day of the SK networks Seoul Economy Ladies Classic, presented by her sponsor, with a total purse of 800 million won.
Lee carded eight birdies and no bogeys for an 8-under 64 in the first round of the tournament at Finks GC (Par 72-6727) in Seogwipo City, Jeju Island, on Saturday to share the lead with Lee Chae-eun. Yoo Seo-yeon (6-under 66) is in third place, followed by Park Hyun-kyung and Kim Ji-hyun (both 5-under 67) in a four-way tie for fourth.
Lee, who won her first career title at the 2019 Nexen St. Nine Masters in her rookie year, was unable to add a second victory. It was her best finish since a runner-up finish at the EverColagen The Siena Queen’s Crown in July and she has just 15 top-10s in five seasons.
After opening with a birdie at the first (par-4) and dropping one more stroke at the sixth (par-4) and ninth (par-5), Lee birdied the 11th (par-4) before closing with four straight birdies from the 15th (par-4).
“I had a cold last week and wasn’t feeling well, but I was desperate to play well in the main sponsored event, so I finished well,” said Lee. “Two years ago, I played well in this tournament (tied for fourth) and was re-signed, and this year I’m playing well again before re-signing, so I guess that’s what happens when you’re pushed,” she laughed. “Everything was good today, but the putts came through, and the greens were really clean and in good shape, so I was able to trust my calculations,” he said. “I know the wind is going to pick up tomorrow, so I’m going to try to keep my tee shot in the fairway and my second shot in the center of the green.”스포츠토토
Playing in her fourth full season since making her debut in 2019, Lee Chae-eun 2 also carded nine birdies and one bogey to cut eight strokes off her score and cruise to her first career victory. “I thought I was going to Jeju Island in hell,” said Lee, who is seeded 60th on the season money list. I can’t relax right now, so I think I’ll be nervous for the next three days as well,” said Lee. “I’ll try to play with care and not lose my rhythm.”
Park Hyun-kyung, who is without a win this season and leads the money list, opened with six birdies and a bogey, while Lee Ye-won, who has three wins and leads the money list, shot a 4-under 68 to join Lee Se-hee, Lee Ju-mi and seven others in a group of eight. Among the rookie big three, Hwang Yoo-min led the way in a tie for 15th (3-under 69), followed by Bang Shin-sil and Kim Min-byul at 2-under 70 (tied for 26th) and 1-under 71 (tied for 42nd), respectively.
