The Korea Football Association has announced the final roster for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
The Korea Football Association (KFA) announced today the final roster of the men’s national youth team for the FIFA U-17 World Cup. The U-17 World Cup will be held in Indonesia from Nov. 10 to Dec. 2.
Byun Sung-hwan earned his ticket to the FIFA U-17 World Cup by finishing runner-up at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-17 Asian Cup in Thailand in July. Since then, the team has held two domestic tournaments and participated in a four-nation tournament in Spain to improve its organization.
The final 21-man roster includes 16 players who competed at the AFC U-17 Asian Cup in June, including captain Kim Myung-jun (Pohang Steelers U18), Kang Min-woo (Ulsan Hyundai U18), Lim Hyun-seop (Suwon Samsung U18) and Yoon Do-young (Daejeon Hana Citizens U18).
Bae Sung-ho, Woo Jeong-kyu (Daejeon Hana Citizen U18), Baek Ga-on (Seoul Boyngo), Lee Kyung-jun (Suwon Samsung U18) and Han Seok-jin (Jeonbuk Hyundai U18), who did not compete at the Asian Cup but have shown promise in their subsequent domestic campaigns and tours to Indonesia and Spain, have also been selected. Twenty of the 21 players were born in 2006, with Han Seok-jin being the only player born in 2007.
Byun Sung-hwan, head coach of the U-17 national team, said, “It’s unfortunate that some of the players who prepared for the tournament together were unable to join us due to injury. We will continue to play proactive soccer, taking the initiative and dominating the game no matter what team we face, just as we have been doing as a team,” said Byun.
The team will convene at Paju NFC on the 30th and train for five days before departing on the 6th. South Korea will play their group matches against the United States on the 12th, France on the 15th, and Burkina Faso on the 18th.
The first and second matches will be held at the Jakarta International Stadium and the third match at the Bandung Sisalak Harupat Stadium. All game times are at 9 p.m. local time.스포츠토토
The 24-team U-17 World Cup will feature a 16-nation knockout stage with the top two finishers in each group and the best four finishers in the third place group.
