The Korean women’s volleyball team has finalized its 12-player roster for the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games.
The Korean Volleyball Association announced the final roster for the Hangzhou Games on Friday through its official channels. Lee Han-bi (Pepper Savings Bank) and Kwon Min-ji (GS Caltex) were excluded from the 14-player squad that competed at the Paris 2024 Olympic World Qualifier in Poland.
South Korea failed to qualify for Paris next year after going 0-7 in Olympic qualifying. This is the first time South Korea has failed to qualify for the Olympics since the 2008 Beijing Games.
After a dismal Olympic qualifying campaign, Cesar will leave Poland immediately for Hangzhou, China. The women’s volleyball team will be going for gold for the first time in nine years since the 2014 Incheon Asian Games. They won a bronze medal at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games.
According to the Korea Volleyball Association, Kim Da-in (Hyundai E&C) and Kim Ji-won (GS Caltex) have been selected as setters and Kim Yeon-yeon (Hyundai E&C) and Moon Jung-won (Korea Expressway Corporation) as liberos.레고토토
Park Eun-jin, Jeong Ho-young (Sang Sang Kwanjang), Lee Da-hyun (Hyundai E&C), and Lee Ju-ah (Heungkuk Life) were selected as middle blockers, and Lee Sun-woo (Sang Sang Kwanjang) was selected as an outside spiker. The outside hitters are Kang So-hwi (GS Caltex), Park Jung-ah (Pepper Savings Bank), and Pyo Seung-joo (IBK).
In Group C, South Korea will compete in a pool with Vietnam and Nepal. They will play their first game against Vietnam on October 1, followed by the second game against Nepal on October 2.
It will be interesting to see how the women’s volleyball team will fare as the men’s team has already suffered its first medal defeat at the Asian Games in 61 years.
