Winger Uhm Ji-sung, 21, of Gwangju FC in the K League 1, has been named the Young Player of the Month for August.
The Korea Football Association (KFA) announced on Aug. 31 that Uhm Ji Sung has won the Lemona Young Player of the Month Award for August.
The Young Player of the Month Award recognizes Korean nationality players aged 23 or younger (born in 2000 or later) who have been playing in the K League 1 for three years or less (debuted in the 2021 season or later) since their first appearance in an official K League match.
Players who appear in more than half of their team’s total playing time in the month will be nominated, and the winner will be determined by discussion and vote of the members of the Technical Study Group (TSG) under the Federation’s Technical Committee.
This is the second Young Player of the Month award in two years for Uhm, who was named the inaugural winner in August 2021 when the award was created.
He appeared in all four games of the 25th-28th rounds of the K League One that were evaluated for the Young Player of the Month Award, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
In particular, he scored a multi-goal performance in Round 28 against Suwon Samsung on August 27, the last game of the month, helping Gwangju to a 4-0 victory.
Uhm will receive a trophy and a cash prize of 1 million won.
The award ceremony will be held at the Gwangju Football Stadium next month, when Gwangju hosts Jeonbuk Hyundai on March 24.먹튀검증
