The Son Of A Former US Senator Murdered While He Slept

The 23-year-old man died at the hands of the ex-partner of the woman he was dating.

Former Florida State Senator Daphne Campbell denounced this Wednesday that gun violence claimed the life of her 23-year-old son in Miami-Dade on Tuesday , allegedly killed by the ex-boyfriend of the woman she was dating , in a county that has had one of its most violent weeks.

The Democrat noted on Facebook that her 23-year-old son Jason Dwayne Campbell orphaned three children. “I lost my son to gun violence while he slept, the killer has no heart and he killed my son,” Campbell said.

Since last Friday there have been several shootings in the county, among them the one perpetrated by three people who arrived in a van to a banquet in Hialeah where an urban music concert was being held and in a matter of seconds they fired into the crowd at the exit of the event. The shooting left two dead and more than 20 injured .

Gun violence includes gang rivalry, attempted robberies, disputes, and in the case of the former Florida congresswoman’s son, love affairs. Campbell’s son was shot and killed inside an apartment allegedly by the ex-boyfriend of the woman he was dating. “I feel devastated,” Campbell said. Authorities have not released details of the attack or whether there are any detainees.

Meanwhile, the search continues for the three people who attacked those attending the rap concert with the help of several videos, including one of the three suspects and another from the crowd that is seen sneaking between the bullets. The mayor of Miami-Dade, Daniella Levine Cava, has described these shootings “in cold blood” as “shameful” and asked for help from the community to find the whereabouts of those responsible.

“These despicable shootings in northwest Miami-Dade and Wynwood are shameful acts of violence that have left innocent people dead and injured,” Levine Cava lamented about the shootings that occurred during the Memorial Day holiday bridge in the US.

At midnight on Friday, one person died and at least six were injured in the attack by a gunman who fled in the central and touristy neighborhood of Wynwood.
